For Peirce, a sign has three parts. This is partly because [[for Peirce, everything is triadic]].
**Sign or *representamen***.
The sign or _representamen_ is equivalent to the [[Ferdinand de Saussure|Saussure's]] "signifier." I.e., this is the thing doing the signifying.
**Object**.
The object is the thing supposedly signified. The referent.
**Interpretant**
The interpretant is kinda like what actually happens in your brain.
